“KazNU Master’s Students Undertake Scientific Internship at Xinjiang Medical University to Deepen Knowledge in Modern Pharmacy”

Second-year master’s students of the educational program “7M10117 – Pharmacy” of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Akmuratzkyzy Zhanbota and Bozhbanbayeva Guzel Zharasovna, are currently undertaking a scientific internship at Xinjiang Medical University, College of Pharmacy. This internship represents an important stage in their academic and professional development and is aimed at expanding their scientific outlook and strengthening competencies in modern pharmaceutical sciences.

Xinjiang Medical University is one of the leading medical universities in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. The university actively develops scientific research in the fields of medicine, pharmacology, and biomedical sciences. It is equipped with modern laboratory infrastructure and actively collaborates with international universities and research centers, contributing to joint scientific projects and academic exchange programs.

The main objective of the internship is to deepen theoretical knowledge in key pharmaceutical disciplines, including pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, and pharmacology. Special attention is given to mastering modern analytical techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS), spectrophotometry, as well as methods for standardization and quality control of medicinal products.

During the internship, the students actively participate in laboratory research focused on studying the chemical composition of biologically active compounds of plant origin and their pharmacological activity. Particular emphasis is placed on analyzing plant extracts and determining the content of flavonoids, saponins, and polyphenols, which possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

In addition, the students are working on their master’s thesis topics, including the study of drug formulations, development of innovative approaches, and evaluation of pharmacological effects. They apply modern experimental models, perform qualitative and quantitative analysis, and use statistical methods for data interpretation.

The internship also contributes to the development of practical skills in an international scientific environment, including participation in seminars, conferences, and academic discussions.

Thus, the internship plays a significant role in enhancing professional competencies and preparing highly qualified pharmaceutical specialists.
