KazNU and UNESCO presented innovations in education at the international exhibition
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University together with the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty presented an innovative educational project at the international art and scientific exhibition "Falak: Song of Water and Earth". The event is being held in Astana as part of the Regional Environmental Summit.
KazNU scientists and representatives of the UNESCO regional office in Almaty presented an interactive VR complex at the exhibition. This exhibition allows you to simulate natural and anthropogenic processes related to water resources, glacial systems and climate change.

The project is aimed at developing modern educational approaches, increasing environmental awareness and developing a systematic understanding of climate and hydrological risks in Central Asia.

Using virtual reality technologies, users are invited to take a sequential tour of a number of key thematic locations, each of which reflects a specific aspect of hydrological and glaciological processes. This digital solution reproduces a high-altitude glacial environment, where field measurement methods are demonstrated, including estimating glacier mass, monitoring the dynamics of its retreat, and analyzing hydrometeorological parameters. Additionally, the activities of dispatching centers for water resources management are modeled, ensuring the regulation of runoff and distribution of water in a changing climate.

A separate section is devoted to agricultural areas, where modern irrigation systems and their role in ensuring water security in the region are presented. The final element is an interactive learning environment in which users perform tasks aimed at identifying and analyzing the factors of formation of glacial mudflows, including the influence of temperature, precipitation, slope morphology and the state of glacial lakes.

Thus, the introduction of VR technologies allows not only to visualize complex natural processes, but also contributes to the formation of a systematic understanding of the interrelationships between climate change and hydrological risks.
