KazNU Rector raised topical issues of Turkology in Baku

Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev spoke at an international conference in Azerbaijan, where he raised topical issues of Turkology and education.

An international conference "Teaching of Turkic languages, literature and history in the context of modern challenges" was held in Azerbaijan as part of the Week of the Turkic World. The large-scale event, organized on the initiative of Baku State University, was devoted to discussing topical issues of teaching Turkic languages, literature and history, studying international experience and developing a common academic space.

The conference was attended by President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Isa Gabibbeyli, President of the Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage Aktoty Raimkulova, President of tüba Muzaffer Sheker, Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Saadat Yusifova, Chairman of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO Mehmet Ocal Oguz and President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted the deep symbolic significance of the fact that the conference coincided with the 100th anniversary of the First Turkic Kurultai. The Rector stressed that in the context of the Turkic states, the teaching of Turkic languages, literature and history is of particular importance for strengthening national identity and preserving common cultural and spiritual values.

In his speech, the head of the university noted that the issues of a common alphabet and a common language in the Turkic world, as well as the current problems of scientific coordination between the Kipchak and Oguz language branches still require comprehensive study. At the same time, he stated the need to strengthen scientific and academic cooperation in this area.

During the event, Zhanseit Tuimebayev solemnly handed over to the rector of Baku State University, Elchin Babayev, a collection of documents and video materials "The 100th anniversary of the First Baku Turkological Kurultai" and the works "The Legacy of the First Baku Turkological Kurultai and the Turkic World in the 21st century".

The meeting participants emphasized that the conference makes a significant contribution to the development of Turkological science, the expansion of scientific dialogue and the strengthening of the common educational and research space in the Turkic world.
