Education sector leaders visited a branch of KazNU

The branch was opened on November 27, 2024, by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. This is the first foreign branch of a Kazakhstani university operating in Russia.

During the visit, the guests of honor were introduced to the activities of the branch and the prospects for its further development. The Rector of KazNU, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, presented the branch's material and technical base and educational opportunities.

The educational process is organized on an area of 1,536 sq.m. There are 22 educational and methodological offices, a computer and multimedia center, a modern library, as well as co-working areas for students. To train future specialists, specialized offices of customs affairs named after Chokan Valikhanov, Kazakh language named after Abai Kunanbayev and international law named after Nazir Torekulov have been created.

The delegation also visited the branch's admissions office, where they learned about the admissions process for the 2026-2027 academic year. Currently, the university offers educational programs in International Law, Customs Affairs, and Kazakh Language and Literature.

"As a result of the first intake, 68 students were enrolled in the branch. KazNU provided 50 students with a 100% discount on tuition for a period of 4 years. The Russian side allocated 100 educational grants. In the new academic year, it is planned to accept up to 250 applicants",- said Zhanseit Tuimebayev.

Special attention was paid to the modern library of the branch. The guests were shown the library collection, which includes about 3,000 printed publications. The Rector of KazNU emphasized that students and faculty members have full access to the electronic library of KazNU and international scientific databases. The guests also visited the classrooms of the branch, where they met with students. The young people shared information about the educational process and the benefits of studying at the branch.

At the end of the event, Zhanseit Tuymebayev awarded special gifts to employees and students who actively participated in the university's social life and made significant contributions to the development of the branch. In addition, Murat Zhangaziev, the director of the branch, presented "Letters of Gratitude" from the Rector of KazNU.
