Shanyrak as a Symbol of Family and Unity
Within the framework of the Nauryznama decade, March 16 has been officially designated as Shanyrak Day. This day is not just a holiday, but an important occasion that promotes generational continuity, family values, and national unity. Shanyrak Day highlights the importance of family and social cohesion.
The shanyrak is not only a structural element of the yurt, but also a profound cultural symbol of the family and the spiritual identity of the nation. Its circular shape represents eternity, continuity of life, harmony, and unity. Just as the strength of the shanyrak depends on its solid structure, the bright future of a country depends on the strength of each family and the stability of its values.
For the Kazakh people, the shanyrak has always been a sacred concept. It represents the family hearth, warmth, well-being, and generational continuity. The traditional blessing “May your shanyrak be high!” carries a deep meaning, wishing prosperity, unity, and happiness to every family. The shanyrak symbolizes harmony, respect, and unity, holding a special place in the spiritual life of the people.
In this regard, various cultural events are organized across the country to promote family values and strengthen the institution of the family. One such meaningful event was held at the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The main goal of the event was to instill respect for family, reverence for elders, and care for younger generations among students.
During the event, exemplary families working at the faculty shared their experiences with students. They emphasized the importance of mutual understanding, respect, and trust, and discussed ways to resolve various life situations. Special attention was given to the role of family in shaping a person’s character, worldview, and values.
Explaining the meaning of the saying “The happiness of a shanyrak lies in mutual respect,” participants noted that family well-being and harmony depend on mutual respect and trust. Despite differences in age and personality, all family members are united by love and responsibility.
The event was attended by faculty families from the Department of Computer Science: Urmashev B.A. and Tursunbay A.T., Makashev E.P. and Kulmuratova A.Sh., Kassymbek N.M. and Barysova S.B., who contributed to promoting family values.
In conclusion, it was emphasized that a strong shanyrak is the foundation of a happy family and a harmonious society. Shanyrak Day is not just a celebration, but an important occasion that strengthens national unity, spiritual values, and generational continuity.
